Hung started his academical studies and training at Maracaibo and Caracas Art Schools. He then graduated at the Superior School of Fine Art in Paris, benefiting from a grant from the Venezuelan government. Despite his Asian origin, he is a strong value of national art in Venezuela. His contribution to the development of painting in the country is immense. His is an artistic career full of awards and recognitions both nationally and internationally, including the National Prize for Excellence in 1965 and the First Prize at the Barquisimeto Biennale in 1982. Aesthetically, his work spans within figuration and abstract expressionism. That is to say, the fluctuation between the realms of objectivity and subjectivity. He is rightly regarded as one of Venezuela’s major exponents of Expressionism.
