Artist: Jesús Soto, born in Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela, in 1923

Serigraph, signed and numbered 54/100

69cm x 50cm / 27 x 19¾ (unframed)

Maximum exponent of Kinetic and Optical art, Soto started his artistic career from cubist and constructivist influences, and became one of the main representatives of kinetic and optical art of international repute and authority. The development of Jesús Soto's work started from perceptual kineticism (black and white studies based on moiré effects, planes activated by color and retinal vibration of lines caused by the interaction between figure and background) to reach the total conquest of space. Between one point and another, Soto did not skimp on exploring the intermediate levels and stages. In 1988 he created the Virtual Sphere for the Seoul Olympic Sculpture Park. In the 1990s he showed his work at the Museum of Modern Art in Kamakura, Japan (1990), at the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris (1993), at the Kunsthalle in Cologne, Germany (1993) and at the MOMA in New York (1993). One of the main museums of plastic arts in Venezuela, installed in his hometown, bears his name.
